Reuniting families with love and hope.
Esmeralda Sosa Serratos is a Texas-licensed immigration attorney with over a decade of experience dedicated to representing immigrants and their families, with a particular focus on removal defense, immigration litigation, and complex immigration matters.
Originally from Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Esmeralda earned her law degree from Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Tamaulipas (IEST Anáhuac) in 2011. In 2012, she immigrated to the United States to pursue her legal career. She studied English as a Second Language at Oklahoma State University before attending St. Mary's University School of Law, where she earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in American Legal Studies in 2014. She became licensed to practice law in Texas in 2017.
Throughout her career, Esmeralda has represented individuals and families before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Her practice includes removal defense, asylum, cancellation of removal, humanitarian relief, family-based immigration, adjustment of status, waivers, VAWA, and citizenship. She is particularly passionate about representing individuals in detained and non-detained immigration proceedings.
Esmeralda has also served on the State Bar of Texas Laws Relating to Immigration and Nationality Committee, receiving a reappointment for the 2026–2027 bar year.
As an immigrant herself, Esmeralda understands the challenges of leaving one's home country, learning a new language, and building a future in the United States. Her personal journey inspires her commitment to providing compassionate, dedicated, and strategic legal representation to immigrant families.
Today, Esmeralda practices at Abogados Vasquez Law Firm, where she continues advocating for immigrants and their families. Beyond the courtroom, she is affectionately known as "La Law Tía," using social media to educate the Hispanic community about immigration law and help families better understand their rights and legal options.
For Esmeralda, immigration law is more than a profession: it is a personal commitment to serving the immigrant community and helping families move forward with dignity, love, and hope.
