Personal Injury

Hurt Because Someone Else Was Careless? We Can Help.

An accident changes everything in a moment. One day you are driving home on I-35 or walking through a store; the next you are dealing with pain, missed work, medical bills and an insurance adjuster who wants a recorded statement before you have even seen a doctor. Texas law gives injured people the right to seek compensation from the person or company responsible, but the insurance company's job is to pay as little as possible.

Abogados Vasquez Law Firm levels that field. Attorney Luis Vasquez represented hundreds of injured clients at one of the larger personal injury firms in Austin and San Antonio before returning to his hometown of Waco. We investigate, we handle every call from the insurer, and we document every part of your claim. Every conversation can happen in English or Spanish. Call (254) 900-7947 today.

What We Handle

Personal Injury Cases We Handle

Car Accidents

Waco's roads see thousands of collisions a year, from rear-end crashes on Valley Mills Drive to high-speed wrecks on Interstate 35 and Highway 6. If another driver was texting, speeding, ran a light or drove drunk, you may recover for medical care, lost wages, property damage and pain and suffering. We collect the crash report, photos, witness statements and medical records, and we deal with both drivers' insurers so you are not pressured into a quick, low settlement. Truck and 18-Wheeler Accidents

I-35 through McLennan County is one of the busiest freight corridors in Texas. When a commercial truck is involved, the case is different: federal safety rules apply, the trucking company and its insurer have their own investigators on the scene within hours, and critical evidence like driver logs and electronic data can be lost quickly. Contacting an attorney early lets us send preservation letters and build the record before it disappears. Learn more about truck accident claims.

Motorcycle Accidents

Riders are often blamed for crashes they did not cause, and their injuries tend to be severe. We work to show what actually happened, using the scene, vehicle damage, witness accounts and, where needed, accident reconstruction, so the insurer cannot shift responsibility onto you simply because you were on a bike. Slip and Fall and Premises Injuries

Stores, restaurants, apartment complexes and parking lots must be kept reasonably safe. A wet floor with no warning sign, broken steps, poor lighting or an unsecured rug can cause serious injuries. Texas premises cases turn on what the owner knew or should have known, so it matters to report the fall, get the incident documented and preserve any video before it is recorded over. Learn more about slip and fall claims.

Wrongful Death

When a family loses a spouse, parent or child because of another person's negligence, Texas law allows certain family members to bring a wrongful death claim, and the estate may bring a survival claim. No case can undo the loss, but a claim can address funeral costs, lost financial support and the loss of companionship. We handle these cases with the care and privacy they deserve. Our Process

What to Expect

  1. 1

    Consultation

We listen to what happened, review any photos, reports and medical records you have, and explain how a personal injury claim works in Texas.

  2. 2

    Investigation and Treatment

We gather evidence, deal with the insurance companies so you do not have to, and make sure you are getting the medical care you need.

  3. 3

    Negotiation or Trial

We prepare your claim, negotiate with the insurer and, when a fair settlement is not offered, are ready to file suit in McLennan County.

How a Texas Personal Injury Claim Works

Most claims begin with the at-fault party's insurance company. After we notify the insurer that we represent you, all communication goes through our office. While you treat with your doctors, we gather the evidence that proves fault and documents your losses. Once you have finished treatment or your doctors can project future care, we prepare a demand that lays out the facts, the law and the compensation you are seeking.

Many claims settle through negotiation. If the insurer refuses to make a fair offer, we can file a lawsuit in the district or county courts in McLennan County. Texas generally gives you two years from the date of injury to file suit, and claims against a city, county or the state have much shorter notice deadlines, so it is important not to wait.

What You Can Recover

Depending on the facts, compensation may include past and future medical expenses, lost wages and lost earning capacity, property damage, physical pain, mental anguish, physical impairment and disfigurement. Texas applies a comparative fault rule: if you were partly responsible, your recovery is reduced by your percentage of fault, and you cannot recover if you were more than 50 percent at fault. We work to make sure the record reflects what really happened.

FAQ

Personal Injury FAQs

How much does it cost to hire a personal injury lawyer?

Fees and case expenses are explained in a written agreement before anything is signed.

Should I talk to the other driver's insurance company?

It is wise not to give a recorded statement or sign anything before speaking with an attorney. Adjusters are trained to ask questions that reduce the value of your claim. Once we represent you, they communicate with our office.

How long do I have to file a claim in Texas?

Generally two years from the date of the injury, but there are important exceptions, including much shorter notice deadlines for claims against government entities. Contact us as soon as you can so no deadline is missed.

What if I was partly at fault?

Texas uses modified comparative fault. You can still recover as long as you were not more than 50 percent responsible, but your compensation is reduced by your share of fault. Insurers often exaggerate your share, which is one reason to have an attorney build the record.

Do I need to see a doctor if I feel okay?

Yes. Some injuries, especially to the neck, back and head, show up days later. Prompt medical care protects your health and creates the records that document your injury for the claim.

Can you help if I do not speak English well or have an immigration concern?

Yes. Our office works in Spanish and English every day, and your immigration status does not prevent you from bringing a personal injury claim in Texas. We can discuss any concerns privately during your consultation.
